On July 8, the opening ceremony and dinner of Taiwan Representative Office of SINOTRANS & CSC was held in Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Taipei. Director of SINOTRANS & CSC and President of joint stock company Zhang Jianwei presided over the opening ceremony. Chiang Pin-kung, Chairman of Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) was invited to act as guest of honor. Hu Hanxiang, President Emeritus of Cross-Straits Shipping Exchange Association, many giant enterprises in the shipping industry in Taiwan, shipping agencies and logistics-related units attended the ceremony.
　　As the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) signed and further opening up policies for mainland-funded enterprises to Taiwan, Taiwan Representative Office will act as a window and platform for SINOTRANS & CSC in Taiwan so as to push forward opportunities for cooperation between SINOTRANS & CSC and enterprises in Taiwan and provide rapid, accurate, economical, convenient, satisfying and safe logistics and shipping services across the straits.
　　As early as 1997, SINOTRANS & CSC became one of the six enterprises of the first batch to take part in the pilot direct shipping across the Taiwan Strait. After the opening of three direct links (transportation, trade and post service), SINOTRANS & CSC cooperated with relevant shipping, logistics enterprises in Taiwan more closely. Currently, SINOTRANS & CSC has three direct routes from Tianjin, Shanghai, Fuzhou and Xiamen respectively to Taiwan’s three ports, Keelung, Taichung and Kao-Hsiung. Main business, such as container transport, air cargo agency, maritime transport NVOCC, is conducted by agents in Taiwan, at the same time, SINOTRANS & CSC carries out widespread cooperation with Taiwan shipping companies in operating shipping agency, freight forwarding agency, container station and some ports.
